Fuel Economy Overview

The 2020 Infiniti QX50 AWD achieves an EPA-estimated 25 MPG in combined city and highway driving, with 22 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. Powered by a 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with a automatic (av-s8), this small sport utility vehicle 4wd features All-Wheel Drive drive.

In terms of environmental impact, the 2020 QX50 AWD produces approximately 365 grams of CO2 per mile. This figure is measured under standardized EPA test conditions and represents tailpipe emissions only. For context, the average new vehicle sold in the United States produces approximately 400 grams of CO2 per mile, meaning this QX50 AWD performs better than the national average in this regard.

The estimated annual fuel cost for this vehicle is $2,750, based on 15,000 miles of driving per year and current national average fuel prices. Compared to the average new vehicle, you would save $3,000 over a 5-year period. This calculation accounts for differences in fuel consumption efficiency and provides a practical measure of long-term ownership costs attributable to fuel economy.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Rogue, 2019-2020 Altima, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55 vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L or 4-cylinder 2.0L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. The engine bearings may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine failure.

Consequence & Remedy

Consequence: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.

Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or Infiniti's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25A8/A9 and R25B1/B2.
