Fuel Economy Overview

The 2021 Audi R8 achieves an EPA-estimated 16 MPG in combined city and highway driving, with 13 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway. Powered by a 5.2L 10-cylinder engine paired with a automatic (am-s7), this two seaters features All-Wheel Drive drive.

In terms of environmental impact, the 2021 R8 produces approximately 567 grams of CO2 per mile. This figure is measured under standardized EPA test conditions and represents tailpipe emissions only. For context, the average new vehicle sold in the United States produces approximately 400 grams of CO2 per mile, meaning this R8 has higher-than-average emissions in this regard.

The estimated annual fuel cost for this vehicle is $4,300, based on 15,000 miles of driving per year and current national average fuel prices. Compared to the average new vehicle, you would save $10,750 over a 5-year period. This calculation accounts for differences in fuel consumption efficiency and provides a practical measure of long-term ownership costs attributable to fuel economy.

critical
Component: POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:LUBRICANT

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022 R8 Spyder and 2021-2022 R8 Coupe vehicles. The gearbox may have an insufficient amount of transmission oil, which can lead to clutch slippage, and in certain driving situations, a transmission oil leak.

Consequence & Remedy

Consequence: Clutch slippage can cause a loss of drive power and increase the risk of a crash. A transmission oil leak in the presence of hot exhaust components can increase the risk of fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and correct the transmission oil level, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 22, 2022. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 37O1.
