Fuel Economy Overview

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid AWD achieves an EPA-estimated 36 MPG in combined city and highway driving, with 36 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. Powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine paired with a automatic (av-s6), this small sport utility vehicle 4wd features All-Wheel Drive drive.

In terms of environmental impact, the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid AWD produces approximately 246 grams of CO2 per mile. This figure is measured under standardized EPA test conditions and represents tailpipe emissions only. For context, the average new vehicle sold in the United States produces approximately 400 grams of CO2 per mile, meaning this Crosstrek Hybrid AWD performs better than the national average in this regard.

The estimated annual fuel cost for this vehicle is $1,650, based on 15,000 miles of driving per year and current national average fuel prices. Compared to the average new vehicle, you would spend $2,500 over a 5-year period. Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP

Subaru of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2026 Crosstrek hybrid, and 2025 Forester hybrid vehicles. When the fuel tank is near full capacity, an increase in ambient temperature may cause the fuel to expand and spill out of the filler neck due to an insufficient seal on the fuel cap.

Consequence & Remedy

Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures, and to limit the fuel level to 50% until the remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the fuel filler cap gasket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WRD-26.
